Hat-trick of Award Nominations for Local
Local writer, Adrienne Vaughan, is celebrating news that her latest novel – Legacy of Secrets − has just been longlisted for an international author award.
Being Irish, Adrienne’s book qualifies for The Carousel Aware Prize (CAP Awards) for Independent Authors, with the aim of showcasing the cream of independently published authors, bringing them to the attention of book shops and the media − with all money raised going to the charity Aware.*
This is the third award nomination Adrienne’s writing has secured this year.
Firstly, Mystery of the Midnight Madonna is on the shortlist for the Historical Novel Society’s (HNS) ‘First Chapter’ Award. This is an annual international award, that this year had a record 650 books from 22 countries entered.
This announcement was quickly followed by news that her latest book − Legacy of Secrets – described as ‘an enchanting dual timeline story with a magical twist’ – was chosen as a finalist in the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s ‘Romantic Novel of the Year Award ’ – also a record year, with over 500 books entered.
“This is the most amazing news,” said Adrienne – who has written eight books to date. “It’s a real honour to be a finalist in any of these awards, and I’m especially pleased with this latest nomination. The CAP Awards are very dear to my heart. My anthology Fur Coat & No Knickers was shortlisted in its inaugural year, and Aware* is such an important charity, I’m thrilled.”
Now in its tenth year, Booker Prize Winner, Paul Lynch is patron of the awards and Chapters’ Book Store, in Dublin are the awards’ main sponsor. The awards evening is in Dublin in October.
*Aware is a non-profit organisation providing education, support and information on mental health.
