Concert: In Brass & Voice

A joyful town collaboration between Brass – Harborough Band – and Voice – the Harborough Singers. A concert of two halves, separately showcasing the band and choir, plus some joint surprises!

Harborough Band are currently on a high having just been promoted to Division 1 in the UK Brass Band tables – the highest they’ve been in their 134-year history. They come to the ‘In Brass & Voice‘ event fresh from an appearance in the National Championships in York and for the Welland Park concert will present a programme of music that they will be using at a major Entertainment Band Competition in Worcestershire in the Autumn, an event that they won last year.

Meanwhile, the Harborough Singers are fast approaching their 50th Anniversary. Although they come to ‘In Brass & Voice‘ after an amazingly successful concert tour of some of Vienna’s most spectacular venues, the programme that they will perform with the band will be entirely new and selected especially for the event. Their music will include the Gospel Hymn ‘I sing because I’m happy‘, a Swingle Singers number called ‘Give us this Day‘ and a setting of ‘Love Divine‘ by Howard Goodall – who famously also wrote the theme tunes for ‘The Vicar of Dibley‘, ‘Red Dwarf‘, and ‘Blackadder’.
