Kibworth Town U18 Swifts
“Last Dance for the ‘Crazy Gang'”

Kibworth Town U18 Swifts, our very own version of the infamous Wimbledon ‘crazy gang’, had their last ever game as a team and to increase the excitement they had secured their place in Leicestershire U18s League Cup final on Sunday 31 May. Hosted at neighbouring Harborough Town against Marlborough Rovers it was GAME ON!
Coached by James Grant (manager), Gareth Parker, Marcus Peaker and Archie Weatherill, nerves were high. The majority of the squad had not trained due to the demands of A-level revision and exams and had not had a game for over five weeks.

This was not ideal preparation! On that morning, we boarded our specially scheduled Arriva bus (thank you to Arriva and Alan Holmes for arranging this) and with all in high spirits we made the short journey to Market Harborough.
Despite having lost to Marlborough Rovers on seven previous occasions, most recently in a very heated and close County Cup semi-final, the boys stepped up when it truly mattered. They outplayed their opponents with passion, aggression and creativity to win the League Cup Final 3–1.
Goals from Oscar Williams, Jack Wilkinson and Finn Ball. All the boys gave it everything and played their part in this truly epic victory.
Hollywood Ending
It was a fitting and a true Hollywood ending for the boys, as it was their last ever game as a team, ending their grassroots footballing odyssey. Nine members of the team started from when they were only five years old, playing for Kibworth Town from primary school to now.
The coaches would like to thank the parents and all supporters for their unfaltering support over the years, watching the highs and lows, in the torrential rain, snow, mud and heatwaves. I wonder what are we going to do with our Sundays now…..?
It has been an absolute pleasure and the coaching team wish the boys all the success in the future as some move to university and onto other adventures in life ……..
The Kibworth Town U18 Swifts !!!
It’s come home!!
