Remembering Mavis Ann Adcock
Mavis lived in Kibworth from 1969 until 2023. Many of you will remember her as a kind and efficient member of the Kibworth High School office team where she worked from 1980 to 1999. Mavis began as the school’s secretary, key to the everyday running of the school, along with the dubious pleasure of attending to the first aid of many of the pupils! Later on, she became the bursar of the school. Mavis also accompanied some school classes on their residential trips, which she loved.

During the late 1970s and 1980s, Mavis was a member of the Kibworth Amateur Dramatic Society, with highlights being performances in The Boyfriend, Aladdin and more. She was also a regular chorus member of the Harborough Operatic Society, with Carousel and the Pirates of Penzance, to name a few of the musicals to which she contributed.
After retirement, Mavis enjoyed being able to spend more time with her three children and four grandchildren, helping with childcare and being a loving and active nana. Keeping up her love of music and performance, she was a member of the Countesthorpe Festival Chorus for several years, taking on key committee roles alongside enjoying the many practices and concerts.
She was also an active member of the Kibworth & District u3a. Mavis gathered very many friends from her work and social activities alike. She will be remembered as a beloved colleague and friend due to her humour, kindness and resilience. Her family have cherished memories of a dear mum and nana. Following the loss of her dear husband, Trevor, in 2023, Mavis moved from Kibworth to Market Harborough. Mavis died at Rosewood Manor Care Home on 21 May 2026, surrounded by family and the amazing team at Rosewood.
