News from Smeeton Westerby
Spring has definitely sprung here in Smeeton Westerby. Our ‘Bridge 67’ held their wonderful ‘Farm Open Day’on Saturday 21 March. Over 1000 people visited to learn about all of the hard work that goes into rearing such fit and healthy cattle, sheep and pigs in order to put great quality food onto the table.
‘The Kings Head ‘also received great praise when it was announced that they won the ‘Leicester Campaign for Real Ale Pub of the Year’. Andrew and Edd said, “This is only our third year of running the pub, so we are very honoured!”

Christ Church welcomed over 50 people to their Easter service. Children from the village had prepared the Easter Garden in readiness for the tomb to be opened during the service and the garden to be decorated with a beautiful array of flowers.
The new lighting system has now been put to good use in the village hall with Tony Harris’ hilarious interpretation of Donald Trump. It was such a good evening and thanks must go to the village hall committee for preparing the delicious meal and organising the whole event.
