The Green Street’ will be at Harborough Carnival while The Farm return next day. Two dates for your diary Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June.

Small charities will also be at the Harborough Carnival in the Symington Recreation Ground because the organisers are concerned about the climate changing. So for the last few years groups concerned have come to ‘The Green Street’. A ‘Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust’ rep will explain to people what they can do to make their gardens bee friendly. ‘Harborough Transport Action’ people will explain what is being done to improve local transport and reduce the need for so much car use. ‘Harborough Community Energy’ will be running a stall to help people work out what heating improvements they can make to reduce costs. And more stalls beside.

Next day, in Market Harborough Town square, ‘The Farm’ return to share their good news stories with us, as they change their farming practices to be more regenerative and sustainable. It is against the backdrop of terrible weather conditions for our local farmers to contend with, trying to make a living and provide us with nourishing healthy food.

Once again, a small group of us are raising awareness of the different branches of farming. We hope to interest our young people and older ones, especially girls and women, to see the possibilities of a new and interesting career. Why girls and women? The farmer opening the event is Dr Miriam Stoate of Halstead Hill Farm, a great advocate for this career. Hopefully we will have some animals again who are a great attraction. As well as arable farmers, showing their different seeds and healthy soils laden with worms. If you can help, please get in touch.  Thank you
