Spring into action

As Spring brings its lighter nights and, fingers crossed, warmer weather, there’s a real buzz to get outside and stay active! Joining a local exercise group is a wonderful way to turn physical activity into a social event, creating a sense of community through shared movement.

We are delighted to share photos of two such groups that might not always be at the top of your thoughts when thinking about group exercise: the Kibworth Easy Riders on their recent trip to Calpe, near Alicanti in southern Spain and Kibworth Coyotes, our ladies’ Rounders Team getting ready to display their skills in the upcoming season in the Harborough League. (You can find their stories on pages 20 and 21.)

Our third photo highlights shows the many members of the Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club – who have often appeared in these pages – who recently turned out for the Saturday morning Harborough Parkrun to celebrate Bernie, the club’s treasurer’s, special birthday. (You can read the full story on page 19.)

By stepping outside and enjoying these longer evenings, people of all ages can enjoy the benefits of fresh air and shared motivation, making fitness a fun and inclusive part of your community life. Whether it’s a multi-generational game of rounders in the park – a sport that’s famously accessible to all ages and abilities – or a group cycling session through local green spaces or even further afield, or just a casual walk with friends, these activities promote both cardiovascular health and meaningful connections. So, why not give it a go and join in the fun?
