Bridge 67 Butchers Farm Open Day
From Farm to Fork – A Hands-On Celebration of Farming, Food and Butchery in the Kibworth Area
Families, food lovers and countryside supporters are invited to attend our Bridge 67 Butchers Farm Open Day. This is a special ‘Farm to Fork’ event offering a unique behind-the-scenes look at livestock farming – including live lambing, cow calving insights, pigs and a chance to talk to our professional butchers and chefs on how our meat is prepared from field to food.
On Saturday 21 March, the open day will give visitors an opportunity to connect with the journey of their food. Where they can meet the farmers and butchers and gain a deeper understanding of sustainable British agriculture.
Live Lambing Experience
Guests will be able to observe sheep during lambing season and learn how farmers care for ewes and newborn lambs. Farmers and the local farm vet will be on hand throughout the day to explain animal welfare practices, nutrition, and the round-the-clock commitment required during this busy period.
Calving and Cattle Care
The farm’s cattle enterprise will also be showcased. There will be educational talks about calving, herd management, and how high welfare standards are maintained year-round. Visitors will learn how calves are monitored, tagged, and raised to ensure both health and productivity.
Meet the Pigs
Visitors will also have the chance to see the farm’s pigs and learn about pig welfare, housing, feeding systems, and the role they play in sustainable mixed farming systems.
Cookery Demonstrations
Throughout the day, there will be live cookery demonstrations using fresh meat supplied directly from the farms own butcher’s shop. Visitors can watch simple, practical recipes being prepared and pick up tips on making the most of locally sourced lamb, beef, and pork.
Children’s Farm Quiz & Family Activities
Younger visitors can take part in a fun and educational Farm Quiz. They can explore different stations around the farm to learn about livestock, crops, and food production. Completed quiz sheets will receive a small prize.
BBQ & Refreshments
A highlight of the day will be the on-site BBQ serving:
- Steak sandwiches
- Beef burgers
- Hot dogs
All meat will be freshly supplied and prepared by our butcher, offering visitors a true farm-to-fork tasting experience.
