Changes In Motion
New sketchbooks, new subjects, and a season of quiet momentum
“Spring in the studio is all about growth, development and momentum”, says Maxine Dodd, Langton artist. “I’m refreshing my website shop, developing my drawings into concertina sketchbooks, while exploring new subjects; the grace of dance and the collective energy of parkrun, which I’ve been drawing most Saturday mornings in Harborough”. Maxine has been busy since Christmas, designing and delivering new workshops for Left to Draw Studios and Gallery, located upstairs at Union Wharf in Harborough, inspired by her love of sport and ballet. Now that spring is here, it’s time to return to her drawing practice, ready for the summer.
Now showing in Leicester
You can see three examples of Maxine’s new work at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, as part of the Leicester Society of Artists Annual Exhibition, until Sunday 11 April.
The drawings include a pastel portrait of Welsh cycling legend, Geraint Thomas, and her 15ft long concertina sketchbook drawing of Arts Fresco, in a large display case in the gallery.
It’s an exciting new direction and time in Maxine Dodd’s artistic journey – follow her on maxinedoddart.co.uk and Instagram and Facebook @maxinedoddart.
