The Kilby Woodland Trust

The Kilby Woodland Trust, established in 2009, manages 15 acres of woodland. They raise funds by selling tree plots for new trees or adopting existing trees. They also host fundraising events and rent out garden areas. From February, two-thirds of the vacant plots are available for £32 annually.

The trust has a 30-year lease from Leicestershire County Council. It has received core funding from the Woodland Trust until January 2025. The Rural Payments Agency grant expired, leaving a £600 funding gap against annual overheads of £3000, including rents, hedge flailing, insurance, accounts and maintenance.

We’re always looking for new ways to support the charity financially and locally. We’d like to know if your readers would help support the Woodland charity by sponsoring our annual lumberjack’s supper, or purchasing trees from full members. We’d also be happy to advertise local businesses on our website and membership.

We now have two membership categories: a free friendship membership for those who support the charity and a £26 annual membership with benefits which include £20 towards the lumberjack’s supper tickets and discounts from local businesses.

See kilbywoodlandtrust.org.uk for more detailsabout our proposals for this year. We’d love to hear from you about anyway you may be able support us, such as discounted goods and services from your business. We look forward to hearing from you,

Iain Jones
