St Wilfrid’s

Ash Wednesday Service 18 February, 7pm
There will be a special service at St Wilfrid’s Kibworth with communion, hymns, and prayer. During this service, ashes made from palm crosses are blessed and used to make crosses on people’s foreheads to signify the repentance of sin and mortality.
What is Lent?

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and is a time when Christians reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter. The Church of England’s theme for Lent 2026 is ‘Draw Near: life-giving habits for Lent.’ The following resources are available for anyone interested in finding out more about Lent.
The ‘Everyday Faith’ app will carry reflections for adults every Monday to Saturday throughout Lent and beyond: www.churchofengland.org/faith-life/exploring-faith/everyday-faith
Families with children can sign up to take part in ‘40acts’, a 40-day generosity challenge that encourages us to live generously to help build love, hope and joy in the world: stewardship.org.uk/40acts.
