Can you find the protected field in Kibworth?
Next time you are on a walk in the village look out for the new information board.
Prior to the development of land, for housing, an ancient meadow fern was discovered to be surviving in one of our fields. A protection order was duly granted and the field fenced off. The status of the field is included in the deeds of residents now living in the properties on the development. This field is not part of our Open Spaces but is serviced and maintained by a private maintenance company, (who also service the public spaces), funded by the residents.
There is an order for the land owner, David Wilson Homes, to maintain and enhance the ecological value of the retained grassland habitats.
There is ‘No Public Access’ (including dog exercising) to the field to protect the habitat from damage.
