Telraam – the latest eight months figures are in!
In November 2024 the Kibworth and District Chronicle published an article stating that five out of six Telraam traffic sensors had been installed. These sensors can detect and count different types of ‘vehicles’ (including pedestrians and cyclists), the direction of travel, and approximate speed. All the data is available publicly with a 15 minute delay. If you wish to check them out go to bit.ly/kibworthcount.
Analysis of traffic
Analysis of the traffic movements from the Telraam sensor focused on the A6 near to the Coach and Horse. As we all know, is the busiest road in Kibworth. Results show that for the eight months ending 31 December 2025 there was a daily average of 19,553 cars passing this point. 5731 were travelling at 31mph or more (Speeding). The average monthly figures are also quite staggering with 547,294 vehicles of which 173,056 are travelling at 31pmph or more.

The average monthly ‘vehicles’ amount to 4,437 pedestrians, 2,745 cyclists, 412,814 cars, 53,668 heavy vehicles and 82,754 nighttime (all vehicles).
These total a monthly average of 547,294 of 4 or more wheeled vehicles or just under 6 million vehicle journeys a year! Is the A6 busy enough to warrant a bypass, one wonders?
Interestingly the percentage speeding vehicles has reduced from 45% to 35%, which is signicant, during this period. The analysis shows a difference between the behaviour of road users at weekends and bank holidays. As the chart shows, speeding is distinctly greater at these times.
