St Wilfrid’s Church Kibworth

St Wilfrid's Church, Kibworth, Leicester

Happy New Year from the Kibworth Benefice Churches.

It was wonderful to have so many people fill the churches for our Christmas services. If you enjoyed coming along, why not join us for a Sunday service? Everyone is welcome!

Following Ludger’s retirement, we will be ‘in vacancy‘ for several months before a new minister is appointed. Our schedule of services at the three churches will continue as normal. We will also be inviting occasional guest speakers to come and lead the service or give a talk. On Sunday 15 February the Archdeacon of Leicester, Richard Trethewey, will be joining us at St Wilfrid’s, Kibworth. Please visit our website for details of all visiting speakers, as well as our regular services.

Communion Services at the Benefice Churches

St Wilfrid’s, Kibworth – 10.30am Communion services usually take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Our monthly 4pm Traditional Communion services with hymns, organ and choir will take place on 18 January, 8 February, and 8 March. We also hold a Thursday 10am Communion service. This service now only takes place on the first Thursday of the month, and is led by the Mothers’ Union.

Christ Church, Smeeton Westerby – 10am on the first Sunday of the month

St Helen’s, Saddington – 9am on the fourth Sunday of the month

Come and join us for some Messy Fun at St Wilfrid’s!

If you haven’t heard of ‘Messy Church’, it was set up in 2004 as a way of ‘being in church’ for families and anyone interested. It is Christian-centred, for all ages, and based on creativity, hospitality, and celebration. We will be holding our first ‘Messy Church’ since 2019 on Saturday 17 January from 2-4pm. Bring the family along for two hours of fun, with refreshments provided. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.

There’s lots going on for children at St Wilfrid’s!

Did you know that we hold a New Mums group at the church hall every Monday (except bank holidays) from 10am until 12noon? Mums with babies up to one year old can meet other new parents in a relaxed, friendly environment with drinks and pastries available. Dads and grandparents are also welcome!

‘Sparklers’ takes place every Friday in term time at 1.30pm, beginning with a story and songs in the church, then moving to the hall for play, craft, and refreshments. At just £1 per family, this is a great way to entertain your pre-school children! We have ‘Sunday Storytime‘ in the hall while our 10.30am services take place. We also hold a Christian Youth Group on the first Sunday of the month from 5-7pm in the church hall for 7-11 year olds. Our dedicated team of leaders ensure a fun-filled evening with food (usually pizza!) and a Christian message. We ask that parents drop off and pick up their children please.

And not forgetting ‘9.30 Express‘, our fun family service which takes place on the first Sunday of each month with bacon butties in the hall afterwards.
