Bravo to the Band
Yet again in December 2025 the Kibworth Band produced a Christmas Concert to delight, amuse and thoroughly entertain. Not only was the music excellent but their grasp of logistics in moving upwards of 50 musicians and instruments (some very large indeed!) on and off the Hub stage several times was amazing.
Traditional festive favourites and some new!
This year’s programme included some traditional festive favourites, often with an added ‘twist’ and some new pieces, demonstrating the range of skill and flair among band members. Soloists Chris, Carol, Isaac, Alasdair and Paul performed their pieces so beautifully that the packed audience sat in complete silence before bursting into thunderous applause. Musical Director Brendan Caddy has complete control of an audience. He encouraged us to compete, one side with another when singing along to the traditional carols, which no doubt improved the singing significantly.
Growing Youth Section
The Youth Section grows from strength to strength under the experienced direction of Sam Haigh and is clearly very popular. We live near the band hall and on rehearsal nights we frequently see quite small children carrying enormous instrument cases in and out of the hall. Their section of the concert included ‘The Snowman’ theme and the always popular ‘Sleigh Ride’ beautifully played.
Can YOU sponsor the local Band?
The Kibworth Band is riding high. From January 2026 they have been promoted to the Championship Section, which is the highest level for British bands. They will be competing alongside more famous bands such as Brighouse and Rastrick and Black Dyke Mills. They are really putting Kibworth on the banding map and are looking for sponsorship. Hopefully some local businesses will seize the opportunity to support them. Happy New Year and many thanks once again Kibworth Band for a wonderful concert and the very best of luck for your competition work in 2026.
