Pressing for Action on Kibworth’s Dangerous A6 Junctions!

Neil O’Brien our local MP

Many residents have contacted me over the years about the safety of the Church Road and New Road junctions with the A6 in Kibworth. Like many of you, I’m frustrated that despite repeated promises, these junctions remain dangerous and nothing has been done to fix them.

I recently wrote to Leicestershire County Council to ask, once again, when long-promised improvements would finally be delivered. In response, the Council confirmed that while the need for improvements was identified as far back as 2016, there is currently no plan, no timetable and no funding in place to fix the Kibworth junctions. Instead, the available money is being spent on a scheme at the Wistow Road roundabout that includes measures for cyclists.

This is extremely disappointing. Traffic on the A6 has continued to increase; new development is planned in and around the village, and residents still face long delays and risky manoeuvres when trying to pull out onto the road – particularly when turning right. I use these junctions all the time and I know how dangerous they are.

That’s why I’ve launched a petition (https://www.change.org/p/fix-the-dangerous-a6-junctions-in-kibworth) calling on the County Council to come forward with a clear, funded plan to fix both junctions. I believe it’s important that the strength of local feeling is made absolutely clear.

I will continue pressing the County Council for action, and I intend to present the petition directly to them. The more people who sign, the stronger our case will be.

If you share these concerns, I’d encourage you to add your name to the petition and help make sure Kibworth’s voice is heard.
