Kibworth Community Library needs you!
Would you like the chance to be a bigger part of the community? Are you looking for new friends? Or something to fill your time? Then please consider volunteering at Kibworth Community Library. We have been a Community Library for ten years this year, and a Charitable Trust for eight. During this time, we have had close to a hundred volunteers help run it. We come from different walks of life, are different ages, have some or no experience in libraries, but we all love it. And we are all passionate about keeping the library running!
To do this we need to get more people involved, as counter volunteers, trustees, and activity and group leaders. As we have extended our opening hours over the last few years, we have needed more and more volunteers to fill those shifts. The trustees have lead on raising the funds we need to keep going. They look after the building, they oversee the library service we provide, and the overall management of the library. But people get older, their lives change, and we have seen people move on, and we are starting to struggle to cover everything.
After fighting so hard to keep the library in the village we want to see it continue to thrive. So, if you have any free time that you’d like to fill by helping us out or any ideas for any new activities you’d like to see in the village, please let us know.
We are in a beautiful new, purpose-built space, centrally in the village, with plenty of parking. Shifts are extremely flexible; basically as much or little time as you can spare. The shortest shift is an hour and a half, and the longest is three hours. You could volunteer twice a week or once a month, we really don’t mind, every little helps.
