A message from Kibworth Firefighters
With the festive season on the horizon, the crew at Kibworth Fire Station wanted to share an update with our community about the work we’ve been carrying out and the incidents we’ve recently attended. Our focus is, as always, on protecting the public. Both through our emergency response and by offering fire safety guidance and support whenever it’s needed.
Operationally, it has been a busy period for the station, with the crew responding to 36 calls in the last month alone. These included several significant incidents such as multiple property fires and a large barn fire. We have also supported complex incidents across the county, including a high-rise car park fire in the city, as well as attending a wide range of other emergencies to help protect both people and property within our community. In addition, we have attended a number of serious road traffic collisions on local roads.
Drivers Take Extra Care
With this in mind, and as the colder weather sets in, we’d like to remind all drivers to take extra care on the roads this winter. Allow more time for your journeys, reduce your speed, and increase the distance between you and the vehicle in front as stopping distances can be up to ten times longer in icy conditions. Please also ensure your lights, tyres, and wipers are in good condition, and always clear all ice and snow from your windows before setting off. Stay alert, drive to the conditions, and help keep our roads safe for everyone this winter.
Festive Parade
Alongside our emergency response work, we have organised several community-focused events, including our upcoming festive parade featuring Santa and Rudolph. The first of these will be taking place on Monday 22 December, when Santa and Rudolph will be joining the crew and visiting Fleckney village for the very first time. They will then be visiting Kibworth on Tuesday 23 December for more festive fun.

More details about the routes will be released closer to the time, but they’ll be parading through the streets of both villages, spreading festive cheer and holiday magic whilst trying to raise money for local charities. We’d love for everyone to join the procession or give us a wave from your doorstep!
On-call firefighters play an essential role within Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. The Kibworth crew remain dedicated to developing their skills through regular training to ensure we are prepared to respond at any time. Although the on-call role requires commitment, it is an incredibly rewarding way to contribute to your community. If you live in the area and are interested in making a meaningful impact, we would be delighted to hear from you. Anyone wanting to learn more about the role, the recruitment process, or our upcoming ‘Have a Go’ days is encouraged to contact the station for further information.
