Methodist Matters

June – Our Minister, Rev Andy Murphy, returned refreshed from his 3-month sabbatical, a period granted to ministers every seven years for re-equipping, refreshment, renewal, and study.
July – The decision was taken to renew Rev Andy Murphy’s appointment to this Church and circuit for a further four years from September 2026. He will continue to have pastoral responsibility for Market Harborough, Rothwell, and Kibworth; as well as sharing responsibility for the Anglican/Methodist Church at Desborough.
August – Rev Andy Murphy conducted his first ‘same-sex’ marriage service at one of his churches, for a female couple who had been in a relationship for 12 years. Our own Church Council took the necessary legal steps in 2022 to permit such ceremonies to be conducted at Kibworth, should we be requested to do so.
Also, in August our premises were fully re-decorated. This included the re-emphasising of the print on the 1846 Foundation Stone, which can now be clearly seen whenever you are passing the church.
September – Our Harvest Festival will be held during our 10:30am Service on 28 September. All loose cash in the collection that day will all be given to ‘All We Can,’ the Methodist Relief Charity, with donations of food and other items being given locally to ‘The Well’ Food Bank.
October – Three years ago, we attempted to replace our chairs after receiving a large anonymous donation to cover the cost. Unfortunately, the company took our money, (as well as that from other churches/charities), liquidated the business, and set-up an almost identical one. We are now financially able to purchase the chairs again, not from them, and hope to take delivery sometime this month.
And Finally:
“When I look at the world, I get distressed.
When I look at myself, I get depressed.
When I look at Jesus, I find rest.”
