Kibworth Art Lovers – Sept 25

Over the long warm summer there have been plenty of art exhibitions and Open Studios in the region to keep Kibworth Art Lovers inspired and looking forward to the start of our new season.

Our 2024/25 programme ended in June with another lively evening led by multidisciplinary artist, Sue Clegg. Sue presented herself as a chaotic, flamboyant artist using every kind of media and all varieties of tools from brushes, sticks, inks and acrylic pens to pastel sticks and spray paints! Our members and visitors viewed several of her sketch books. They were filled with colourful images drawn while sitting in local parks as much as in beautiful rural settings. We saw examples of Sue’s digital collage and her screen printing. Also how she transfers her images on to earthenware. She is driven by her curiosity for finding ways to do what has not yet been tried. It was a truly inspiring evening.

Finally, in July, Kibworth Art Lovers visited the garden of the late Peter Carter. We sketched and painted some of his amazing sculptures set amongst the shrubs and trees. Our thanks go to Mary Carter for her welcome and for tea and cake.
Our 2025/26 season begins on Tuesday 30 September, 7pm, at the Kibworth Community Hub when professional artist, Andrew Geeson, will demonstrate his unique and simplistic method of “becoming loose in watercolours.” His approach is “to enjoy the journey that watercolour brings and to love every moment.” Kibworth Art Lovers warmly welcome new members and visitors to our meetings.
In the meantime, work by Jenny Riseborough, will be on display at the Kibworth MHBS, to be followed in October by those of Janet Alderson-Smith.
