Illston-on-the-Hill WI – Jun ’25

Illston on the Hill WI discussed the resolution at their latest meeting ‘Bystanders can be Lifesavers‘. There are over 30,000 ‘out of hospital’ cardiac arrests per year in the UK. Less than one in ten people survive. This is why the WI urge the training and delivery of CPR, and to work with local organisations to help improve access to defibrillators in their communities, to give every person the best chance of surviving a cardiac arrest. Needless to say when put to the vote at Illston, it was unanimously agreed to carry forward the resolution to the Annual Meeting.
Following the serious matters we then enjoyed ‘home-made’ entertainment. This was organised by our very own Sue Welch. Charades! Well, who would have thought it could be so difficult – how would you describe ‘Jurassic Park’? Although she did actually give us some relatively easy titles. It was all a matter of teamwork, one person identified something, then another some other clue, and in the end we mostly got there. Some found it very difficult to keep quiet when the other team were guessing and gave away several clues! There was great hilarity and lot of moans and groans, but this event was a huge success and worked very well instead of our usual organised talks. ‘Home grown’ talent really is the best. Thank you Sue.
We finished with our usual fabulous refreshments, whilst at the same time discussing how we could have enacted some of the clues – easy to be wise after the event!!
