Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club – April 2025

It’s been a busy few weeks for Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club as we enter spring, with a variety of races to report. The Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) races are now underway with the 1st Race being our local Kibworth 6. We’ve had several of our runners competing in a whole host of different races already this year, achieving some fantastic results along the way. Well done team F&K, and great motivation for the rest of the year.
Pitsford 10K: Sunday 2 March
It was great to see a few of our runners at the Pitsford 10K. A really lovely route, taking in some great views around the Northamptonshire countryside. The course starts and finishes at Brixworth Country Park and is a great introduction to trail running. Jenny McNair completed the course in 1:37:17, Ruth Hughes (1:37:25) and Fran Gould (1:37:29). Well done ladies.
Kettering Half -Marathon: Sunday 9 March
Starting and finishing at Wicksteed Park, and winding through the town centre and surrounding area, the Kettering Half seems to be growing in popularity. It was great to see a few of our team take part and complete the course in some great times. Dan Pedley was 1st home for the club with a time of 1:57:43, Abby Jackson (2:07:22) and Fawzia Kauser (2:24:53) Well done all.
Kibworth 6: Sunday 16 March
The 1st race in the LRRL calendar, hosted by F&K and Roadhoggs. Arguably one of the most challenging League Races on the circuit. It has a couple of particularly difficult hills, but always a popular race and one we enjoy hosting to get the season underway. As our local race we had a great turnout from the club with some great results. 1st home for us was: Steve King in 42:51, John Clampin (49:01), Bernadette Owen (50:41), Leda Roodbaraky (52:10), Rachel Earland (53:50), Jo Wood (53:52), Lucy Earland (56:11), John Redfearn (58:43), Steve West (61:33), Emma Moore (61:34), Victoria Hawley (70:58), and Gary Lawrence (74:29). Fantastic running.
Ashby 20 – Sunday 23 March
Always a great event and an ideal training distance if there’s a marathon on the horizon!
A 20 mile undulating two lap course around the scenic Ashby and surrounding area. Well done to Lorna Muskett for completing the race with an impressive time of 2:43:19.
Desford 6 – Sunday 6 April
A new race to the League calendar this year, the Desford 6 proved to be a very enjoyable race, with glorious sunshine on the day as well. Another great turnout from F&K with some great finishing times. 1st home for the club was Jamie Owen in 47:52, Bernadette Owen (50:08), Dan Pedley (51:13), John Redfearn (57:13), Andy Kemp (64:08), Fawzia Kauser (64:22), Gary Lawrence (70:39), Emily Pierce (76:57) and Ruth Hughes (81:09).
Berlin Half-Marathon -Sunday 6 April
Another brilliant achievement away from home. Emma Moore completed the Berlin Half with a new PB of 02:27:44. Well done Emma, and always great to see club members completing races outside of the UK.
Leda Roodbaraky and Emma Boyd also ran the very challenging 8.6 mile Chicken Run Fell Race in the Peak District on Saturday 22 March. Leda finishing in 1:42:07, and Emma 1:46:03. Finally, on Sunday 6 April Steve West completed the Regency 10K in Leamington Spa with an impressive time of 61:56. Well done all.
