I recently attended the funeral and burial of a former neighbour. The service was held at Great Glen crematorium. The interment was in the natural burial area at Kibworth Cemetery on the A6, Harborough Road.

It’s been five years since Kibworth Community Library was first approached by the Parish Councils to consider moving location to the Old Grammar School and become part of a new Kibworth Community Hub.

On Sunday 12 October Stop the New Town (STNT), hosted a community walk in Great Glen leading local residents across some of the countryside threatened by development. At this fun, family event, supporters of the campaign joined by Ace, miniature Shetland pony, and Lemmi, miniature donkey, convened at the village recreation ground in a show of protest at the extensive housing development proposed in the Harborough District Council local plan, and the tsunami of speculative developments currently in the planning pipeline, two proposed for the village periphery.

Kibworth Joint Recreation Committee are to be congratulated. They have further enhanced all our recreation areas - be they small or large - with the installation of display panels explaining the history of each area.

The Kibworth Art Lovers’ Society started its 2025/26 season last month with a demonstration of watercolour painting by Andrew Geeson, one of our most popular visiting artists.

We remain busy at The Hub, and things are already gearing up for Christmas. The new kitchen is fully up and running and most of our users are very happy with it. The new stainless steel units certainly make it more hygienic and easier to keep clean.

Smeeton Westerby Parish Council has appointed LB Planning to advise on the controversial planning application 25/00793/OUT. In a recent letter to Harborough District Council, LB Planning highlighted a serious issue with the Site Location Plan.
