The Illston Abey Cricket Club season kicked off on Saturday 18 April with a match against The Langtons.
We’ll have a Leicestershire League game every Saturday this season, and the entry and parking are free.

On the evening of Saturday 25^th April the Harborough Singers will make a rare appearance at Market Harborough Methodist Church, Northampton Road. The choir will perform a concert of music inspired by the phrase ‘In the Evening Light’. Perfect for a sunset performance on a spring evening, conductor Charlie Penn has searched high and low for beautiful pieces so that the choir can present their choral reflections at the close of day. Charlie’s selection includes well-known tunes like ‘Loch Lomond’ and the Spiritual ‘Deep River’, as well as classical offerings such as Rheinberger’s Evening Song and Charles Wood’s ‘Music, when soft voices die’, right through to exquisite modern pieces such as Tichele’s ‘Earth Song’ and Whitacre’s ‘A boy and a girl’ which the choir enjoy singing very much.

As Robin and Maid Marian disappear into the sunset, the remaining good folk of LMT have to turn their hand to entertaining and amusing our lovely audiences.

Illston-on-the-Hill WI prepared themselves for a luxury cruise around the Royal Yacht Britannia - and were not disappointed.

Our March speaker, Penny Morris from Gildings Auctioneers, spoke about provenance and its part in authenticating and valuing items. Her first example was a landscape by artist A.J. Munnings, which was unusual because he famously painted horses. Given to a friend of his, a female Master of the Hunt in the 1930s (again unusual). It sold for £104,000 because of its history.

Our wonderful team of women and girls, ranging in age from 12 to over 50, has started training again this month, with our first session of 2026 at Kibworth Mead Sports Hall.

KGC is teeing up for an exciting new season as we welcome our incoming captains, Phil Thomason, Julie Simpson and Mia Ashton. At the recent drive-in, they announced their chosen charities for the year ahead: Heartwize and The Melanoma Trust.

Members of the running club were out in force over recent weeks, representing the club across road and trail events – and tackling everything from fast six-mile racing to muddy off-road challenges.

After a fabulous concert last November, followed by our usual Christmas events, we are very excited to share with you the total amount raised for our chosen charity, Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough. We raised a total of £1,300 which the Hospice were absolutely thrilled with! Thank you to everyone who supported us!

With the worst of the weather hopefully behind us, the Kibworth Easy Riders are looking forward to a busy summer of cycling and adventures.

As Spring brings its lighter nights and, fingers crossed, warmer weather, there’s a real buzz to get outside and stay active! Joining a local exercise group is a wonderful way to turn physical activity into a social event, creating a sense of community through shared movement.

The KPA is busy this term. Our first movie nights raised almost £600, and our evening discos were a huge success, with amazing dance moves from pre-schoolers to Year 6ers!

At our meeting in February we commenced a members project. We reviewed and annotated a thousand plus photographs, which were donated to the Society by the late Isobel Cullum’s family. Isobel was the features writer for the Kibworth & District Chronicle for nearly 30 years. She had amassed myriad photos of many people and events over the years.
