The Well – April 2024

Welcome to April. Spring flowers are blooming, the days are drawing out and it’s (occasionally) slightly warmer, but no less rainy, it seems!

Just before Easter we received a generous donation of Easter treats from the Market Harborough Building Society. We passed these on to clients of our food bank, who were all very thankful.

Y11 from KMA

Back in March, before the schools broke up, we were delighted to host a group of Y11 students from Kibworth Mead Academy for a special ‘reward’ lunch. The school treated them for being the top reward point students in their year. Our volunteers prepared and served their lunches of sandwiches and jacket potatoes, which were all consumed vigorously.

Last year, The Well received a visit from the High Sheriff of Leicestershire, Henrietta Chubb. She met some of the trustees and volunteers and to learn about the work that we do in the community. As her time in the role came to an end (a new High Sheriff is appointed every year), we were invited to join her and lots of other charities and organisations at a thank you reception in St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray. We hope the new High Sheriff will come and see us this year.

We’d like to remind you about the support and advice that’s available from our partners via regular drop-in sessions in our café and/or by contacting them directly. They can help with a wide range of matters such as housing and homelessness, legal issues, welfare benefits, debt, budgeting, mental health, domestic abuse, and health and wellbeing. To find out more, visit our website at www.thewellkibworth.org and click on ‘activities’.
