Methodist Matters – Oct ’23

School Road Chapel News

Changes. Since Kibworth joined its new, larger, ‘Circuit’ of Methodist Churches last September several changes have taken place. Rev. Andy Murphy remains the minister of this church, but we now enjoy a larger range of ministers and local preachers leading our services. This month, alone, our six services will be led by six different individuals! “Why?” someone said.  “Why not?” I say. Is it not worth listening to different people interpreting the Gospel and choosing different ways to worship our God?

We have a new web-site (address below) showing our location on a local map. As well as detailing our own services it links to the Circuit web-site giving not only our news, but also news from other local churches.

A new minister, Rev. Nathan Falla, joined us in September with a further minister hopefully joining our Circuit next September.

Bookings. We encourage local residents and organisations to utilise our premises for meetings, children’s parties and other activities (no alcohol permitted). We do not make a fixed hire charge; but instead we invite users to make an appropriate donation to cover our costs. For information/availability,

29 October Attempting something different, we will be seated in a horseshoe fashion for our 10.30am Family Communion. Will it work? Come along and join us to see.

5 November SPACE, our monthly informal service at 5.00pm (30/40 minutes) has the title ‘Saints and Synonyms’.

12 November On Remembrance Sunday, whilst the village’s main Act of Remembrance will be at the War Memorial outside St Wilfrids (and subsequently inside), we will hold a service here at 10.30am for those looking for a quieter, more reflective, service. Remember, however, that vehicle access and parking will be restricted in the area, as the parade passes our premises around 10.15am.

And finally: where does it come from?

“Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die”

Answer. Isaiah Chapter 22 Verse 13.
