Kibworth Road Safety

Dear Editor,

When the subject of traffic and road safety through Kibworth has been mentioned in the past, we have been told that the authorities won’t do anything until there is a major accident or fatality on our stretch of the A6.

These photos graphically illustrate the damage that vehicles have done to road signs when they have accidentally driven over the so-called “refuges” in the middle of the road. A pedestrian wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving such an impact.

Must we really wait until some poor unfortunate person happens to be on one of the refuges when this happens again? We must demand action now to avoid the heartache and devastation that would be caused by such a tragedy.

Ultimately we will need a bypass. But we need traffic calming urgently as an interim measure, as a new road will be years away.
