Spirit at Play Gears Up for Re-Opening

Spirit at Play is a Horse Therapy charity. They offer opportunities to children and adults with learning disabilities, mental ill health and physical disabilities to improve their wellbeing by having calming interaction with horses in a safe and welcoming environment. This helps develop their self -confidence and develop vital life skills.

The therapy offers equine assisted learning through the interaction with the horses that, in turn, have a calm and positive nature.

There are currently five horses at the stables who have been trained to be handled in a calm therapeutic manner which will benefit the users during their interaction.

The charity was set up in 2004 and is now based at Illston-on-the-Hill having moved there in 2015.

Project manager Judith Edwards and her dedicated team of volunteers are currently getting the facilities in tip top shape for what they hope will be a re-opening in the late spring.

They are currently seeking new helpers who may be able to spare a few hours each week to help out.
