Pinned: Financial Help for Communities from The Kibworth Chronicle

Like most societies, councils, community forums and groups of friends, The Kibworth Chronicle Management Committee has been holding its meetings online. Zoom, Google and Microsoft have really been helping with communication though most of us would really like to go back to face to face I suspect. Some of those meetings will have been to discuss finances and perhaps lack of funds for day to day running or future projects.

Creativity During Lockdown

At the bottom of Tin Bridge lies the Kibworth Covid 19 snake. His snakeskin is more colourful than that of natural snakes because he consists of hundreds of hand painted stones. A great deal of creativity and enjoyment has gone in to making him which made us wonder what other creative items are being produced in our distribution area.

COVID-19: Part 2 - Lockdown Becomes the New ‘Norm’

Life is starting to take on a new kind of normality. In fact, it almost seems that this is a movie taking place that we’re not part of, and I’m worried that we’re feeling a false sense of security. Everywhere is so quiet and calm; very few shops are open and those that are have queues of people waiting to go in, keeping apart at a safe distance. I eventually managed to get a ‘click & collect’ booking for 20 April by staying up till midnight to wait for a new day’s slot to become available! I was ecstatic to be in a queue and then finally be able to check out my shopping at 1.30am!

Looking Back on Lockdown Eyecare

Local independent opticians Edmonds and Slatter opened its doors for routine eye care on Monday 22nd June as restrictions started to ease, including for the first time at their new Kibworth practice. However, in the last few months their team offered an emergency eye care and eyewear service to assist key workers, vulnerable residents and anyone else that needed urgent support.

High Street, Kibworth Beauchamp - Pedestrian Social Distancing

Districts across the country, like HDC, have been given funding to help businesses open on 15 June. Changes are being made in Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Kibworth Beauchamp and Fleckney. Here in Kibworth Beauchamp, temporary changes are being implemented from Monday 15 June. On High Street, the parking bay will be used to ensure 2m social distancing from other shoppers when walking along between Smeeton Road and the disabled space, which will remain.
